Among the songs to be found on the album are classics such as “Stairway To Heaven”, “Kashmir”, “Whole Lotta Love”, “Rock and Roll” and “Dazed and Confused”.
There will also be a deluxe edition with a DVD featuring varied live content from the previously released "Led Zeppelin DVD." For those vinyl guys out there a special collector's edition is to be released as a four-vinyl set.
The songs on “Mothership” are chosen by the three surviving members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones.
In addition to “Mothership” in all it’s editions there’s more in store on the Led Zeppelin front. A deluxe reissue of the soundtrack to the movie “The Song Remains the Same” from 1976, is to be released November 19. The soundtrack will include six songs that were not on the original version: “Heartbreaker”, “Since I’ve Been loving You”, “The Ocean”, “Mist Mountain Hop”, “Over the Hills and Far Away” and “Black Dog”. Not only the soundtrack of the movie will be reissued, the movie itself will be released on DVD November 19 as well. Of course, there’s a lot of extra goodies on the DVD. Apart from the original songs on the movie you can also find concert performances of “Over the Hills and Far Away,” “Celebration Day,” “The Ocean”, and “Misty Mountain Hop”, billboard.com reports. There’s also an interview with singer Robert Plant and manager Peter Grant to be found among the extras.
It seems quite common these days to put out new releases in several formats and the release of “The Songs Remain The Same” is no exception. Apart from the regular DVD standard the film will also be released in both HD DVD and Blu-ray formats. There will also be a limited collector's edition that includes the soundtrack, a T-shirt with the original album art and reproductions of memorabilia from the era.
In this writer’s opinion the most important aspect of all these releases is the possibility of Led Zeppelin going on tour. Earlier this summer there were strong rumours that the band were to perform at the proposed Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert this fall in London, UK. The rumours went even further and suggested that Led Zeppelin would actually go on tour, with Jason Bonham filling in for his father on drums. After a few days of rumours Robert Plant went public and denied that Led Zeppelin were to reunite.
With all of these releases maybe there’s still hope?
