Nathan Fillion (left) with co-star
Summer Glau and Joss WhedonA great disturbance in the Net rippled through the
tubes a few days ago, as of a milion sci-fi geeks sobbing in pain, when
Joss Whedon himself, the creator of genre classics
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer",
"Angel" and the short lived, but well loved
"Firefly", which spawned a big screen sequel,
"Serenity", jumped on the
Whedonesque message board and
said the following on a rumoured follow-up to the latter:
There's no sequel, no secret project regarding Serenity or somesuch and I'm not even sure how anyone thought there was talk there. I've seen Nathan and Tim (and Summer and Alan) recently because they're my friends because I'm so, yeah, awesome. So let's put that to bed and smother it with a pillow.
But in Hollywood, as elsewhere, life must go on. And actor
Nathan Fillion, who played
Captain Mal Reynolds onboard the
Firefly, and the preacher from Hell,
Caleb, on the last season of
"Buffy", has now joined the cast of
ABC series
"Lost". The information is a bit spoilery, so be warned.

E! Online has learned
the following:
Sources confirm to me that Nathan Fillion (Buffy, Firefly) has been cast on Lost! He starts filming the show next week in Hawaii, and will guest star in at least two episodes this season, from what I hear.
If you want to know *WHO* he's playing, keep reading ....
He will be playing someone from Kate's past. Someone who was VERY close to our beloved Katie -- as in, legally bound and not genetically.
You got it, right? It seems there's much more to Kate's past than we've seen ...
That would seem to be episode 6 of this season and however many follows, as per the spoilers from the great site
SpoilerFix.
